Albany Deacon turns self in to begin sentence

ALBANY -- Deacon John Dennehey turned himself in on Friday, asking the judge if he could begin his jail sentence rather than wait.

Dennehey pleaded guilty to charges of endangering the welfare of a child earlier in January, and was supposed to be sentenced on March 9.  He was accused of innappropriately touching himself in front of two 13-year-old boys.

Investigators say the incidents happened in 2008 at the First Congregational Church of Albany, near Dennehey's home.
