No matches found.$8,000 diamond swapped with fake
An 8,000 thousand dollar diamond is missing from a jewelry store in Gloversville, after police say a couple replaced it with a fake. It happened at Castiglione Jewelers on North Main Street last week. According to police, the owners son spent two hours showing the couple loose diamonds, when he turned his back for just seconds, to grab a calculator, police say the diamond was switched for a cubic zirconia.
"From the video they did keep a pretty good eye on them up until a point when he left to get the calculator which was a matter of ten seconds, but the diamonds were left on the desk." said Gloversville Police Detective, Joseph Kadle.
"When we opened the paper to show it to someone else, we knew immediately it wasn't a diamond." said Louis Castiglione, owner of Castiglione Jewelers.
The couple has not been located.
