ALBANY - Hakeem Nicks of the Super Bowl bound New York Giants will visit Albany as a celebrity guest for the Center for Disability Services annual telethon. Nicks will fly in Sunday morning and return in the late afternoon in time for the Giants' team meeting that evening.
Nicks is represented by local agent JR Rickert and Peter Schaffer of the firm Authentic Athletix. The 2009 first round draft pick from North Carolina has produced 24 touchdown catches in his career and has been a big part of the current Giants playoff run.
He suffered a minor shoulder injury in the NFC Championship game vs. the 49ers and is fully expected to play in Super Bowl XLVI. During the regular season, Nicks totaled 76 catches for 1,192 yards and 7 touchdowns.
“I’m very happy that my schedule worked out and allowed for me to make it to the telethon. I have heard that it is for a great cause and I’m honored to be a part of it,” said Nicks.
Fans will have a chance to come and meet Nicks and get autographs at the Holiday Turf Inn on Wolf Road in Colonie from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. this Sunday. The proceeds from the event will go the Center For Disabled Services.
Agent JR Rickert commented: “Hakeem Nicks is a first class individual and a great player. When my partner Peter Schaffer informed me that Hakeem was going to do this appearance one week before the Super Bowl, it didn’t surprise me at all.”
More information about Hakeem Nicks’ visit to Albany will be posted on JR Rickert’s website: www.AgentJR.com and Authentic Athletix official web site: www.AgentAA.com
